9: Teachers Are Able to Evaluate Themselves
"The teacher is a reflective practitioner who continually evaluates the effects of his or her choices and actions on pupils, parents, professionals in the learning community and others and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally."
I am naturally self-critical and it helps me to find problems with, and improve upon, lessons I have taught. My cooperating teacher was helpful in giving feedback and questioning me about my lessons and units. He kept me in the habit of evaluating each lesson and unit and noting both strengths and weaknesses (stressing what worked and what didn't need to be there).

10: Teachers Are Connected with Teachers and the Community
"The teacher fosters relationships with school colleagues, parents, and agencies in the larger community to support pupil learning and well-being and acts with integrity, fairness and in an ethical manner."
My time spent at Cambridge High School has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I've learned a tremendous amount about teaching and found myself becoming part of the community. By spending time with other teachers and school staff, I have practically become a staff member myself. Midway through my placement, I was approached about coaching the JV Baseball team (pictured below). I accepted the position and have become even more intertwined in the community as a result. It has allowed me to work with students outside the classroom and gain valuable experience working with parents as well. Though it is difficult to measure all the ways coaching has affected my stay in Cambridge, I know it has done so in a million subtle and enduring ways. I also acted as a chaperone for Prom and will be chaperoning an upcoming field trip to the Veterans Museum in Madison. Getting involved in these ways is rewarding on personal and professional levels for me and shows students that I genuinely care about them and their endeavors. I plan to continue involvement in the community in the future, whether it be through coaching or some other combination of things.
